It was a long, hard winter. Everybody is in the mood for the lazy day's of summer. People are preparing their gardens, planting flowers, mowing lawns.
But here on PEI the summer is still on it's way. It's not quite here yet. Some days are beautiful, and others feel like a cool, late Fall day. So, it's "almost summer".
That reminds me of some people who are "almost saved". They believe in Jesus. They believe he is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for their sins, that He rose from the dead on the third day after his burial. They even attend church, give their money, help the needy and so forth. And yet, believing is only one part of salvation. The other part is "trusting". One can believe in something and yet never fully put their trust in it. Trusting in Jesus for salvation means that we no longer put any trust in ourselves or in our own good deeds to somehow manufacture goodness. Goodness will never gain us entrance to heaven. God doesn't base His decision as to whom He allows entrance into heaven upon how many good deeds in a lifetime we have compiled. But his demand is that we place our trust in the accomplished work of Christ, who paid God's demand for judgment for sin when He took our place and died on a cross. When we place our trust in what Christ already has done, and in the price He paid for us, then we are saved from the penalty of sin.
Don't be "almost saved". Put your faith in Christ today and be "completely saved".
