Years ago, Pastor Charles Swindoll wrote a devotional book entitled something like "Season's of Life". I may have the title wrong, but it was something like that. I read the book years ago, but its principles have stuck with me.
Pastor Swindoll takes you through the seasons of Summer, Winter, Spring, Fall and he relates that to how we also have seasons in our life. There are times when it is winter. Life is harsh. There is a lack of growth and activity. But there are also seasons of Spring when things are coming alive, getting ready to grow, showing prosperity. You get the idea.
So, what season are you in right now? Maybe you're in "Winter". The harsh realities of life have struck. You've become sick. You got diagnosed with cancer. A loved one has passed away. You lost your job. Or maybe you're in "Spring". You got a new job and you're excited about it. You've been through chemo and you're in remission. You had a new baby, or grandbaby. You got married and are in love like never before. Maybe it's Summer and things are in full growth, booming, exciting.
Whatever season you find yourself in I want to simply encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus. Sometimes when it's "summer" we are so excited and busy with the growth that we foget to give thanks to the one who allowed the growth to come in the first place. And sometimes when it's Winter we get so focused on the harshness of life that we forget to call out to the one who can give us the strength to get through it. But in all seasons of life we ought to keep our eyes on the Savior. The Bible encourages us to call on Him, Lean on Him, Trust Him, Don't forget Him, Pray to Him, Thank Him and Worship Him. Whether it's Winter, Spring or Summer, it's always the right season to foster a relationship with Christ.
